About the live show of The List
The List is a deeply moving one woman play by celebrated Québec dramatist Jennifer Tremblay, translated by Shelley Tepperman.  Stellar Quines’ live production starred award winning actress Maureen Beattie (27, The Enquirer), was directed by Muriel Romanes and had a creative team that included Scottish artist John Byrne. The show won a Herald Angel, a Fringe First and Best Production at the Critic’s Awards for Theatre in Scotland in 2012/13.

this stellar piece of theatre is outstanding and entirely captivating, and should be right at the top of everybody’s list. The Public Reviews

The List played to sold out audiences at the Fringe in 2012 and 2013 and toured to various theatres around Scotland on both years.

About the film of The List
In 2013 Stellar Quines set out to discover how a mid scale theatre company can reach a larger audience in the cinema, something big players like the National Theatre and the Met Opera have had conspicuous success with but which, until now, has been beyond the reach of Scottish theatre companies.

Restaging our award-winning Edinburgh Festival Fringe production The List, Stellar Quines commissioned BAFTA-winning film director Morag McKinnon to work alongside the company’s Artistic Director Muriel Romanes to produce a cinema version of the play.  Our aim was to create a filmed experience that didn’t compromise the live-ness and intimacy of the actor’s relationship with an audience.

The support of a  Business Innovation Exchange with Napier University secured a Scottish Funding Council Innovation Follow on Voucher which resourced further support from the Institute for Creative Industries / Screen Academy Scotland. This enabled Robin MacPherson, Director of the Institute for Creative Industries, to become executive producer for the film, which was produced in association with the Institute/Screen Academy Scotland.
